…hasn’t been directed to rescind letter cancelling agreement with Howard Center
SAC CITY, IOWA – NOVEMBER 9, 2010
There is a lot of confusion surrounding what is done with Sac County recycling, how much it costs, how much it should cost, and how much it could cost.
At the November 8, 2010 Auburn City Council meeting, that board’s liaison to the county landfill commission suggested that the issue is not going to be pursued any further.
At the November 9, 2010 Sac County supervisors meeting, Supervisors Dean Stock, who is also the Sac County Landfill Commission chair, seemed to disagree saying that the issue will continue to be a discussion item and the commission has not directed him to rescind the letter the commission sent to the Howard Center cancelling their services.
According to supervisor Stock, if it costs the individual towns more in transportation and time to get the material to Carroll, (Estimated at roughly $5,000 more per year for Sac City,) It may cost them less in the long run because it may stave off the date on which the landfill will need to raise tipping fees and the amount of money that they assess the towns. (Heavy emphasis on those “may”s)
