Interment: November 09, 1911 at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lytton, IA
Arthur “Art” Lange, age 69, of Fonda, IA, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011, at his home in rural Fonda, IA. Arthur Lee Lange was born on August 27, 1942, to parents Ernest and Mabel (Arndt) Lange. He was born and raised on the family farm near Fonda and attended school in Lytton, graduating with the Lytton High School class of 1960.
He met his beloved wife, Pauline Margaret Cain, in Knoke, IA, and they were married on November 24, 1963, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pomeroy, IA. This union was blessed with four children: Kenneth, Mary Ann, John, and Daniel. Art and Pauline were long time members of Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton, IA where he once served as trustee. He was baptized there by Reverend H.C. Gold on September 27, 1942 and confirmed there on March 25, 1956, by Reverend W.C. Nassen.
Art made his living as a farmer, but had many varied talents which included mechanical repairs, drilling farm wells on two farms, and installing a ground source heat pump. He was interested in alternative energy, especially wind turbines and solar panels. He completed an National Radio Institute electronics course, was good with computers and was especially proud to have been selected to cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony for the first Storm Lake Wal-Mart store. When he wasn’t working you could find Art camping and fishing, or out on the open road with his blue GoldWing trike. He will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Pauline; his children: Kenneth Lange of Gardner, KS, Mary Ann Cates of Jefferson, IA, John (Mandy) Lange of Carroll, IA, and Daniel Lange of Fonda, IA; grandchildren: Samantha Lange and Brandon Cates of Jefferson, IA, Sarah, Michelle, and Scott Lange of Carroll, IA; sister Carol (Harold) Webb, Rockwell City, IA; sister-in-law Peg Hildreth, Rockwell City, IA; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Mabel; brother Edwin Lange; and parents-in-law Paul and Christine Cain, and Sena Courter.
