FORT DODGE- These are the closing arguments from the Tracey Ann Richter trial. Richter is accused of Murder in the First Degree, but at a pre-trial meeting held the morning of November 4, it was decided that in addition to first degree murder, the jury would be allowed to to return a verdict for second degree murder, which includes the element of intent but does not include the element of premeditation. Naturally, they are also allowed to acquit.
This video was captured on November 4, 2011. Following the closing the jury deliberated for roughly three hours and then went home for the weekend. They will return on Monday November 7, 2011 to deliberate. TSN's live coverage of this trial will continue at that time.
