Tentative September 26, 2011 Sac City Council Agenda

Minutes of the September 13, 2011 Sac County Supervisors Meeting

The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jack Bensley, Chairman, presiding.

The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.

It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to amend the agenda to talk with the zoning officer regarding a change in the zoning ordinances. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the agenda as amended. Ayes all, motion carried.

During the citizen input time on the agenda, Supervisors Hecht and Bensley indicated that they had had contact from Sac County residents opposing the proposal to combine precincts and Supervisor Stock indicated that he had received two phone calls supporting some sort of reduction in the number of voting precincts in Sac County.

Joe Behrens with Region XII Council of Governments explained the 2011 State of Iowa Community Development Block Grant Tornado and Wind Damage Assistance Program available to low to moderate income families who are under insured or uninsured, who are in need of repair, rehabilitation or reconstruction of their primary residences due to the 2011 tornado and wind damage. No action was taken.

Sherrie Wilson, Sac County zoning officer submitted a proposal for changes to the current zoning ordinances for Sac County.

It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to call for a public hearing on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 10:30 am to consider proposed changes to the Sac County Zoning ordinances. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to canvass the regular school election results on Friday, September 16, 2011, at 10:00 AM. Ayes all, motion carried.

The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews, status of current maintenance and construction projects and the progress on Highway 20 as it effects secondary roads.

It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to adopt Resolution #11-0913 calling for a public hearing on vacating part of Quincy Ave. for Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at 11:00 AM. Ayes: Hecht, Stock and Bensley; nays none, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve a tile crossing permit on Lee Ave. between Sections 2 and 3, Boyer Valley Twp. Ayes all, motion carried.

With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.

Team and individual results from the September 12 Cross Country Meet in Storm Lake

We only ran a boys team at this meet due to nagging injuries with our girls team. Our young boys team ran extremely well in a highly loaded field.

September 8, 2011 Middle School Volleyball Results

The 7th grade volleyball team travelled to Storm Lake for their first match on Thursday, September 8.

All three teams were victorious as they battled on the court against the tornadoes. The A and B teams won all three games of their matches and the C team won 2 out of the 3 games.

The A-team was led by Morgan Grosely as she she served 14 out of 14 serves with 9 aces. They won the games with scores of 25-12, 25-11, and 15-6. Cortni Paysen led the team in attacks completing 4 out of 5 at the net.

The B team had scores of 25-8, 25-20, and 15-5. They were led by Hannah Jastorff as she served 13 out of 17 over the net with 2 aces. Cassidy Jessen led the team in attacks completing 3 out of 3.

The C team was led by Ann Newman and Rebekkah Tice in the serving department. Ann went 6 for 12 with 6 aces and Bekkah was 7 for 12 with 6 aces. The scores were 17-25, 12-25, and 8-15.

We look forward to taking on the Falcons of O-A-BCIG on Monday, September 12 at home.



The 8th grade volleyball team hosted the Storm Lake Tornadoes in Jr. High Volleyball on Thursday, September 8.

The A, B, and C teams all claimed their first victory on the season by wining all 3 games in each match.

The A team’s scores were 21-10, 21-10, 21-5. Sarah Shull and Lexi Wilson both hit 11 out of 12 serves with 6 aces to lead the A team in serving. Lexi added 5 kills to help with the win.

The B team’s scores were 21-5, 21-6, 21-9. Kennedy Pieken hit 7 out of 7 serves with 4 aces. Bailey Jacobsen was 15 for 16 with 7 aces and Kendal Herrig hit 19 out of 22 serves with 11 aces in serving for the Raiders. Bailey added 2 kills on the afternoon.

The C team’s scores were 21-5, 21-9, 21-2. Jordyn Anderson hit 22 out of 24 serves with 19 aces and Bailey Jacobsen hit 19 out of 19 with 12 aces to lead the serving.

The Raiders will take on OABCIG on Monday with the 8th grade team traveling to Odebolt with the 7th grade team will host the Falcons.
