Passed Away - Myrna Youll

Myrna Youll, age 79, of Sac City, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Sac City, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Vicki Fisher will officiate. Private family inurnment will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Oakland Cemetery, Sac City. The family will greet friends on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Born February 5, 1932, in Logan, Iowa, Myrna Yvonne (Barkhoff) Youll was the daughter of Harold John and Edith Ailene (Dow) Barkhoff. She grew up near Logan and attended country school through the eighth grade, then lived with her grandparents in town while she attended high school in Logan. Myrna earned her teacher's certificate from the Iowa Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and taught school for several years, first in Peyton, Iowa, and later in Sac City.

On June 8, 1958, Myrna was united in marriage to George Allen Youll at the United Methodist Church in Sac City. Two children, Lisa and David, were born to this union.

Myrna was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Sac City. She and George enjoyed wintering in Arizona for the past nine years, and in earlier years, made many happy memories traveling on their motorcycles all over the United States and into Canada. Most of all, Myrna enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Lisa (John) Phillips of Sac City, and David (Patti) Youll of Lake View; four grandchildren, Angela (Mike) Nicodemus of Sioux City, Heather (Brian) Stehr of Salix, Chad Brotherson and fiancée Katie Painter of Columbus, OH, and Cameron Youll of Lake View; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Stehr, Noah Nicodemus, Marc Brotherson, and Sierra Nicodemus. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Eleanor (Herb) Murken of Canby, MN, and Thelma Youll of Sac City; a brother-in-law, Jim (Lorna) Youll of Sac City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband George on May 1, 2011; her parents; an infant brother, Eugene; and her parents-in-law, John V. and Wilkie Youll.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Myrna's name.

Randall Lee Beckman, age 59, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away at his home, on Sunday, August 28, 2011.

Randy was born on October 10, 1951, in Carroll, Iowa, to Wally and Mabel J. (Peters) Beckman. He grew up around Lake View, where he graduated from Lake View High School with the class of 1970. He moved to Houston, TX for a few years, otherwise Randy has always lived in Lake View.

Randy enjoyed being a truck driver, hauling mail and construction materials for over 30 years. He retired in 2002. When he wasn’t trucking, Randy liked to read books and watch television.

Survivors include his brother, Steve Beckman of Lake View; sisters, Cathy Beckman of Ames and Carol Libolt and husband Ron of Rockwell City; niece, Kerri Olson and husband Brian of Grinnell; nephews, Richard Walters and wife Linda of Bartlesville, OK, Rod Walters and wife Darci of Rockwell City, Randy Walters of Des Moines and Rob Libolt and wife Jessica of Center Point, IA; many great nieces, great nephews, and extended family members.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents.
