Is the Sac City Chamber-Mainstreet Corrupt?

The Sac City Chamber-Main Street’s mission statement, according to the Sac City Chamber-Main Street Website is:

"The mission of Chamber-Main Street Sac City is to promote the economic, social and political life of Sac City and its surrounding trade area."

Given that they have charged themselves with "promoting" the "political life of Sac City..." one has cause to ask; Why are they not hosting a Mayoral debate?

In 2007, the Chamber did not host a debate between Barb Powell-Bloes and Brian Buckly. At the time, Barb Powell-Bloes was the president of the Chamber Main Street board. I, for one find that questionable, and very similar to this election year. Eventually, a group of private citizens had to stand up and host a debate/meet and greet on their own.

Barb Powell – Bloes, still sits on the Chamber board as a nonvoting member at this time. Is it possible that she wields enough influence on that board to make them forget their own mission statement and help her out by not making her put her ideas up against her opponent's?

If the Sac City Chamber Main Street board is a principled body, they should consider changing their mission statement to read “The mission of Chamber-Main Street Sac City is to promote the economic and social life, and only the political viewpoints with which we agree, in Sac City and its surrounding trade area.”

So my question is:
Is the Sac City Chamber Mainstreet corrupt? It's my opinion, based on that fact that they are not putting the former head of their board head to head up against the other candidate in a fair debate, in spite of the fact that they claim to be all about promoting the political life of Sac City, that the answer is, yes they are.

If I were Barb Powell-Bloes, I would be appalled that the Chamber board has so little faith in me.

Curtis Bloes

BTW, The Sac Sun Newspaper, the official newspaper of Sac City, Iowa and both a member of the Sac City Chamber Main-Street and a recipient of tens of thousands of dollars in legal notice publishing fees from the Sac City government currently lead by Barb Powell-Bloes is also apparently not interested in interviewing and publishing the views of Barb Powell-Bloes's opponent and has made no effort to contact him for the usual "Get to know the candidates" feature.

FULL DISCLOSURE: The writer of this post is named Curtis Bloes and is running for mayor of Sac City,Iowa.
