Click here to see the other parts of this meeting.

The Schaller City Council is picking through its code book for the first time since 1984 and is holding several sessions for citizens to opine at length about what is wrong/right with the city code.

The full session, the second in the series, goes on for hours… this is the third ten minutes of that second session.

00:00
Citizens have threatened to sue the city if they try to change the code and make it more stringent

01:18
Can you enforce the existing codes until you change them?

01:29
Hire the mayor full time to do code enforcement?

02:00
A full time police officer will be able to concentrate on nuisance enforcement.

02:38
Complaint about garage at 209 South Hanover

03:13
Debate about the former employment of a building inspector.

03:47
I think we’re doing a lot of talk about a person that is going to be the next employee

04:13
Let me try and explain it again

05:12
How the more sever properties are being dealt with

05:38
Everybody is going to interpret the word nuisance differently

06:38
Our existing law officer says that he’s not qualified to determine…

07:21
You’re saying that… there is no description of a nuisance? That’s no good

07:43
…and so we’re going through the entire code right now because we thought there were areas that needed to be clarified

04:00
Mayor expresses negative opinion about outside code enforcement entity, citizen disagrees

08:12
If the town has to call in an inspector then that should be part of the fine.

08:41

09:48
“…I don’t think current ordinances go as far as some people would like to see the city go.”
