VIDEO – Sac City Council attempts to fill position of Aquatic Center manager... barely
APRIL 26, 2010 – SAC CITY, IOWA
1. Linda Lorenzen declined the position as she was offered a position with another entity.
2. City Administrator recommends that Scott Sorensen be offered the position.
3. Frohardt expresses concerns about Scott’s age.
4. Mayor disallows discussion of Scott’s age.
5. Motion to offer position to Scott fails.
6. Second motion to act on Adam Ledford’s recommendation passes unanimously.
7. Scott will be offered the position.
My question is: If Scott is worth hiring at all why not support him in name? Kudos to Gary Hansen for making that original, honest motion.

SCPD apprehends double-county burglary suspects
APRIL 28, 2010 - SAC CITY, IOWA
All people accused of crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The disposition of all cases are subject to change without notice.
This is a Sac City Police Department Information Release.
Comments regarding crime will be strictly moderated.
During the month of April, The Sac City Police Department investigated two burglaries at the Sac Elementary School Concession Stand. Taken during these burglaries was several hundred dollars in pop and candy.
An investigation into the burglaries led to two search warrants being executed in Lytton, Iowa by The Sac City Police Department. During the search warrants a majority of the stolen property was recovered.
Two 17-year old male juveniles from Lytton were taken into custody and charged with two counts of Burglary in the 3RD Degree, each a Class D Felony. The two juveniles were taken to the Eldora Juvenile Detention Center and are being held, pending a hearing.
18-year old Logan Stout of Lytton, Iowa was also charged with two counts of Burglary 3RD Degree, each a Class D Felony.
During the investigation it was also determined that these three males also committed two burglaries in Calhoun County.
Assisting the Sac City Police on this investigation and search warrant was the Sac County Sheriff’s Department.

Sac City Council releases criteria for hiring lifegaurds

You can now officially be a lifeguard when you are 15 years old.
The language of the description used to indicate that a lifeguard had to be at least 16 years of age.
According to Mayor Powell, the Sac aquatic center has hired 15 year olds in the past.

Sac City Administrator Adam Ledford has been directed to look for items that still have value, but that are not used that can be sold. The council directed him to put out a notice to take bids for a manure spreader and a car.
