It is anticipated that on On December 14, 2009 the Sac City Council will passed the second reading of ordinance 2009-217 changing chapter 1.14 of the code of ordinances of the Code of Sac City, Iowa. The following is a copy of that modified code.

Passed Away - Kermit Siebrecht

Odebolt, Iowa


Kermit Siebrecht, age 88, of Odebolt, Iowa, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Morningside Rehab & Care Center in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend DeeAnn Klapp will officiate, with burial to follow in the Odebolt Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Roose Post No. 313 of the American Legion. Friends may call at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Odebolt on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m., with the family present from 6-8 p.m. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m.

Kermit Harry Siebrecht was born on the home farm north of Odebolt, Iowa, on October 11, 1921. He attended Richland Township country school through the eighth grade, then furthered his education at Odebolt High School, graduating with the Class of 1939. Kermit farmed with his father for several years before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served his country during World War II, then returned to Iowa where he resumed farming.

On September 21, 1945, Kermit was united in marriage to Jean Spaugh in Grants Pass, Oregon. The couple made their home on the family farm north of Odebolt where they raised five children, Barbara, Margaret, Rebecca, Alan, and Rita.

Kermit was a member of the United Methodist Church in Odebolt where over the years he participated on many boards and committees. He also was a member of Roose Post No. 313 of the American Legion, Eastern Star, Wheeler Lodge No. 398, and Disabled American Veterans. He currently served on the board of Sac County Mutual Telephone Company; in earlier years he was on the Sac County REC board and the Odebolt-Arthur School board. Kermit enjoyed gardening and watching sporting events on television, but found his greatest joy in his family, especially his grandchildren. He spent many happy hours on the tractor, always finding pleasure in working the land.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; four children, Barbara (James) Jensen of Onawa, Rebecca (Mike) Carstensen of Schaller, Alan (Pat) Siebrecht of Ida Grove; and Rita (Steve) Jensen of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren, Susanna Hogancamp, Amelia Walker, Jason Pepper, Adam, Andy, and Alex Carstensen, Grant Siebrecht, Courtney Lennon, Kristy Siebrecht, and Luc and Zach Jensen; two step-grandchildren, David Jensen and Laura Streck; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Shirley (Lloyd) Rickers of Kiron, and Joan (Dick) Grosnickle of Arizona; a brother, Robert (Mary Louise) Siebrecht of Odebolt; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Margaret Siebrecht; a grandson, Ben Pepper; an infant grandson; an infant sister, Roberta Siebrecht; and two brothers, Lloyd and Merle Siebrecht.

Help Wanted - Sac County Sheriff

Sac County Sheriff's Department has an immediate opening for a deputy Sheriff. This position is to fill a contract and does require the deputy to spend 60% of the shift in the contract community. Applications will be accepted until 4:00PM on Friday January 22, 2010. Applications can be picked up at the Sheriff's Office in the Sac County Courthouse in Sac City, Iowa or by calling the Sheriff's Office at 712-662-7127 during normal business hours.

Applicants must be at least 18-years of age, and meet all the minimum hiring requirements as set forth by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and must be able to pass a background investigation.
