Early, Iowa - 25-year old Kari Ann Unrein of Wall Lake was charged by the Sac County Sheriff's Office on September 1, 2011 with making a false report to a public safety entity, a serious misdemeanor.
On August 8, 2011, Kari Unrein reported to the Sac County Sheriff's Office that she had been sexually assaulted on July 30, 2011 in the sleeper of a semi-tractor trailer as it was parked in Early, Iowa. Unrein identified her alleged assailant as being a boyfriend of one of her friends. During the course of the investigation and after interviewing several persons, Unrein was interviewed for a third time on September 1, 2011. During this interview, authorities say Unrein confessed to investigators that she had consensually participated with her alleged assailant, and that she had made the story up in fear of her husband finding out.
Unrein was not immediately taken in to custody and will make an appearance in Magistrate Court at a later date.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
