Interment was on March 12, 2011 at Oakland Cemetery, Sac City.
Doris Lorraine Ehler, age 94, of Sac City, IA passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City.
Doris was born on May 25, 1916 in Early, IA, the daughter of Harry and Mary Elizabeth (Hunsley) Ehler. She attended school in Early where she graduated in 1933. She worked for the Early High School prior to going to business school in Sioux City. Doris worked for Wincharger, LTD in Sioux City and then moved to California in the early 40’s where she worked for Frazar & Hansen as a bookkeeper in their import/export business for many years. She retired in 1995 and returned to Sac City, living at Oak Terrace Estates.
Doris was a devoted Republican and took great interest in politics. She enjoyed traveling, visiting with nieces and nephews and their families. She had many fond memories of her world travels. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her brother, Donald Ehler and wife Pat of Early; sister-in-law Dorothy Ehler of Sac City; four nephews: Randall Essing and wife Danielle of Iowa City, Jeffrey Essing and wife LuAnn of Spencer, Keith Ehler of Early, and Timothy Ehler and wife Jalonna of Early; three nieces: Kim Johnson and husband Tom of Henderson, NV, Stacey Kennedy and husband Michael of Lakewood, CO, and Sarah Ehler of Northwood, IA; and many extended family members.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; brother Harry “Geg” Ehler; sister Dorothy Longman and brother-in-law Glenn Longman.
