33-year old Angela Rae Evers of Auburn, Iowa and her unborn fetus were killed Sunday January 9, 2011 from injuries sustained in a single vehicle roll over accident. A passenger Nathan Lee Meister age 24 received serious injuries and was air lifted to a Des Moines hospital.
A deer hunter found the pair lying in a plowed field about 1-mile northeast of Auburn, Iowa on 365th around 7:38A.M.
It appears that Evers was operating her 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora east on 365th when she lost control and entered the north ditch. Evers struck a field drive causing the car to vault. The car then rolled end over end about five times before coming to rest on it top. Evers was ejected from the car and found lying in a plowed field. Evers was not wearing her seat belt. Evers was pronounced dead at the scene. Meister was found with Evers. He reported to responders that he crawled out of the car and over to Evers. Meister also told responders that he thought the accident happed between 1:00 and 3:00 A.M.. Overnight temperatures were in the low teens to single digits.
An autopsy on Evers is scheduled with the State Medical Examiners Office.
Auburn Fire, Lake View and Sac City Ambulance and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Sac County Sheriff’s Office.
