New business to open in Sac City, Iowa

sac city auto sales thingy

What you are looking at is the future location of Sac City Auto Sales. Owner, Arturo Lozano-Centeno (lower left hand side of the photo) said that he saw opportunity in Sac City based on the facts that there is no already existing used car lot and that the location is right on Highway 20. (Mr. Lozano-Centeno and I did not discuss K&S Auto or what might happen when Highway 20 moves two miles north.)

The portion of the building you are looking at will be brought down and turned into a display lot. The property east of this is the old car wash which will now be used for servicing vehicles and preparing them for sale. The business office will be located on the east side of the lot facing Highway 20.

Mr. Lozano-Centeno, who also owns Buena Vista Auto Sales in Storm lake, Iowa hopes to open the doors on Sac City Auto Sales within two months, depending on how fast the "Buena Vista Wrecking Crew" (standing atop the overhang in the photo,) is able to level the building and prepare the display area.

  1. Curtis, Actually Kevin Fredericks has K & S Auto in the 1400 block of west main street...

  2. Nothing against K&S, but calling two or three cars parked in an open area alongside a building a 'car lot' is a bit of a stretch. Isn't Kevin's Paint & Body run out of the same building? My impression has always been the car sales is a 'side project' at that location.

  3. if I'm not mistaken isnt there a used car dealer located on the east side of Sac City that has been around for a very long time? Oh yea I thinks is Domino Motors. I know they sell used cars all the time and have since they opened.

  4. Comments like those that anonymous with the bad attitude towards new business are why new business's don't come to town. Everyone realizes that Domino's is here. I think it will be good for there to be a little competition.

  5. Aren't they outside of the city limits? This will be a business that pays tax to Sac?

  6. I think plenty of Domino's money works it's way around Sac too, (if not directly onto the tax rolls,) but I always think of them as a dealership, not a used car lot.

...if only all stores in this town had direct in-town competitors!

  7. And the new lot will be dealing strictly in used vehicles -- the ones that Domino's doesn't keep on their lot very long. They might hold on to them for a little while, and then send them off to auction. Which is where dealerships like BV Auto Sales buy them to put on their lots. Will be a better selection of cheaper used cars than what Domino's can -- or will -- keep on their lot.

  13. No, they're the ones on Lake Ave across the street from O'Reillys.

  14. BV Auto Sales is sort of in the middle of town, you are thinking of Bob's Auto. Why would you say something so irresponsible without looking it up first?

  15. What we need is an economic development team that is more concerned with bringing ANY business to town than in sitting on local boards and commissions.

If we had competent economic development people, we would not recognize them because they would spend all of their time out of town looking for new businesses.

    I'm looking at you, SETD.

  17. I hope the old gas station isn't holding up the old liquor store, but then again that might take care of one the distressed properties. That definitely looks like a hard hat zone to me.

  18. WOW!!!! a new business coming to town everyone should be happy, a little competition is always good. Let's welcome them with open arms..... Maybe they can purchase the property across the street and expand their lot. It would be nice to get that property sold and cleaned up also.
