Rollin Linman, age 76, of Kiron, Iowa, died Friday, December 10, 2010, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa, following an extended battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010, at the Arthur Evangelical Free Church in Arthur, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Allen Tunberg will officiate, with burial in the Odebolt Cemetery.
Rollin Eldon Linman was born at home in rural Kiron, Iowa, on May 23, 1934, to Eldon Emmanuel and Ruth Lillian (Larson) Linman. He grew up on the family farm and attended Wheeler #7 country school through the eighth grade, after which he attended Odebolt High School, graduating with the class of 1952.
Growing up, he attended the Odebolt Mission Covenant Church, and he was a believer in the risen, living Savior, Jesus Christ, as the only way of salvation. In later years, he attended various Evangelical Covenant churches in western Iowa.
After high school he farmed three years with his parents. He then attended a business school in Omaha, after which he worked in the office of the Union Pacific Railroad for 12½ years until becoming ill long-term. Later he cared for his parents in their home before their deaths.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger Linman. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Bonnie Linman, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the headquarters of The Evangelical Covenant Church.
