Minutes of the December 7, 2010 Sac County Supervisors meeting

The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Dean Stock, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.

It was moved by Bensley and seconded by Hecht to amend the agenda to discuss a hazard mitigation grant application. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Bensley to approve the agenda as amended. Ayes all, motion carried.

Sheriff Ken McClure advised the Board of Supervisors that a deputy had been hired to replace John Hatterman who had resigned. Tory Cudaback, who is currently employed with the Storm Lake Police Department will begin his first shift on December 16, 2010.

The Board and the Sheriff discussed progress on repairs to the exercise yard that was damaged by heavy snow and contract coverage with the City of Odebolt.

Tom Schuetz with Group Services met with the Board to review changes in Sac County’s health care coverage and some preliminary projections for 2011 renewal rates.

Jim Bullock, Sac County EMA Director continued a discussion with the Board regarding an application for a hazard mitigation grant application through Region XII Council of Governments. The total grant award is $30,000.00, of which the federal share will not exceed $22,500.00, the state share will not exceed $3,000.00 and the County’s share will not exceed $4,500.00. The County Auditor was directed to review the application and compare it to the original agreement, which was submitted in May, 2010.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Bensley to approve the claims as listed on the claims register in the County Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.

There was no report from the County Engineer.

With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
