Sac City, IA
Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Sac City, IA
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Sac City, IA
Interment: November 15, 2011 at Cedar Cemetery, Sac City, IA
Marjorie Eileen Veerhusen, age 88, of Sac City, IA, passed away on November 11, 2011 at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Marge Corderman Veerhusen was born August 23, 1923, to David and Esther (Stevens) Corderman. Most of Marge’s life was lived in Sac City. She attended the Sac City Community school system.
On August 25, 1941, Marge married the love of her life, Clarence (Clem) Veerhusen in Marysville, MO. Marge and Clem were married for one year when Clem was called into the service. He was stationed in Vancouver, WA, for one year. Marge moved back to Sac City and worked at the creamery where her job was to wrap ice cream and butter. After the years of service were completed, Clem came home and to this union were born four children: Jan, Patricia, Sandra, and Richard. Marge later worked for Preeb & Sons candling eggs and later at Noble Manufacturing.
Marge was a person who loved African violets and geraniums. She also enjoyed card clubs and going to Bingo. Marge was a member of the American Legion. Marge and Clem were involved heavily with horses and going to pony pulls, a tradition which Rick and his wife Inez carry on to his day. The union of Marge and Clem ended with Clem’s passing on June 19, 1983. He was greatly missed by this gracious lady and his family.
Marge came to know the Lord and was saved in the summer of 2004. She was a blessing to the Monday afternoon Bible study which she attended very regularly. She was a person known for asking the tough questions, for which she received a lot of good-natured ribbing. Marge also attended the First Baptist Church. She was a person of great character and opinion. She knew what she wanted, she knew what she expected, and she was not willing to settle for less, which greatly endeared her to all of her friends and family.
Marge is survived by four children and their spouses: Jan and David Mackedanz of Sac City, Patricia Zeka and her significant other Delbert Esclund of Fort Dodge, Sandra and Roger Hallberg of Sac City, and Richard and Inez Veerhusen of Sac City; eight grandchildren: Shelley, Michael, Kim, Tamra, Mark, Heath, Jason, and Kristin; 11 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Zachery, Tyler, Cody, Brandon, Allison, Kameron, Kayla, Stephen, Kolby and Madeline; brother-in-law Raymond Veerhusen of Fort Dodge; and extended family members. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence and sister Joyce Jones.
