Journalism professor afraid for life after scathing criticism of life in rural Iowa

Writer Ernest Hemingway once said "Write drunk, edit sober." One wonders if UI journalism Professor Stephen Bloom forgot to wait to sober up before posting a controversial article for the Atlantic.

According to a story at the Daily Iowan the resulting feedback Bloom has received has made him afraid for the lives of his family members.

Read the full article in which Bloom claims "Those who stay in rural Iowa are often the elderly waiting to die, those too timid (or lacking in educated) to peer around the bend for better opportunities, an assortment of waste-toids and meth addicts with pale skin and rotted teeth, or those who quixotically believe, like Little Orphan Annie, that "The sun'll come out tomorrow.""
