With the streets so bad, I can't believe the city is busy moving snow in the south end of the park (or snow mowing?)

I agree completely. The roads in town are horrid and something needs to be done about them.
ReplyDeleteYeah...is it a trying to save money issue or what? There have been nights that the roads in town were nearly impassable early evenings when I had to get to work! Sometimes the snow needs cleared before the snow stops, especially when it continues to snow for days on end! And the ice on the roads in town is ridiculous...can they not be salted or treated somehow? I'll be surprised if we don't have a lawsuit against the city when someone ends up falling crossing the streets or walking on the sidewalks downtown!
ReplyDelete9th street was partially cleared last week, but at the end of my street, before turning onto 9th street, my vehicle bottoms out because of the huge bump. I couldnt drive that way for a few days till it was partially flattened by other vehicles. When my vehicle needs alligned I am thinking about sending the bill to the city. Everyone in town is going to be in the same boat!
ReplyDeleteI broke my passenger side rear shock (spring? Whatever it's called) on Gishwiller Monday night. :(
ReplyDeleteI agree that the city has done a terrible job on the streets in town. There is no way you can drive on the side streets and not have it harm your car someway. The last couple days with the weather they would have been able to clear these streets. I got stuck yesterday in one of the holes and could not get out.
ReplyDeleteWhat is with this town and the city workers???
I think that you should send the estimate into the City, Curtis. There have been plenty of days that it has been warmer out and it's been melting and they should have had people out then.

ReplyDeleteI got stuck at an intersection in the middle of the STREET last week. LOL
we have to keep our sidewalks cleared off and park off the street even if u have no other parking, the city needs to get out and clear the streets i am afraid i am going to hit someone when the slushy ice crap pulls my car over into their lane.
ReplyDeleteThe cleanest side street in town is 19th street, the road to the county maintenance building. Not a speck of ice or snow and its cleaned three feet back from the curb.
ReplyDeleteIt is true the street are a shame in my opinion. The city streets are in the worst condition every seen in at least 40-50 years or more in my opinion. The "old guy" may have "old ideas", but believe me, the condition of the town streets would never never ever been like this years ago! This is not reasonable to leave our streets like this in the winter months with snow and ice! One wonders who on earth is responsible for cleaning the streets or a lack of cleaning the streets appropriately and allowing such a mess. If they don't know any better they should listen to the "old guys", perhaps, as I see it. The streets are very hard on vehicles and in miserable condition where snow and ice remain. When they roads are slushy they need to get the equipement out and blade them one would think whether it is a weekday or weekend. If this is a manpower problem or money problem, then in these times, perhaps they should consider running some of employees time, to obtain a 40 hour week over a weekend, and take time off during the week instead. The city is being handled presently in a manner that is not with the good of the citizens of Sac City in mind in this instance, and those responsible for this should rethink their reasons for allowing Sac City streets to be in the poor condition they are. One day I thought we would loose our car on the length of Ahrens, and that is just one street of many off streets that are just as bad or worse. There is no excuse for this! Bad management, poor decisions, and a lack of prority could be the problem. Our town and its appearance and driveability should be a first as I see it.
ReplyDeleteI don't personally have a problem with them picking up snow piles and trucking them away... saw the city crew doing just that at 6th & Audubon one day this last week. Those snow piles will be there till June otherwise. But as long as they're moving snow piles, how about the ones by the sides of the roads--especially on Main Street--that make it impossible to see oncoming traffic? They've been there for weeks now. Do we have to wait until there's an accident before something is done about them?
ReplyDeleteIt does seem odd that there was a court case involving a fence blocking visibility some months ago, yet nothing is done about the numerous blind intersections that seem begging for a serious accident. Is the city liable if there is an accident and they have piled the snow to create the problem? One lawsuit would make snow removal seem cheap.
