Auburn City Council considers ordinance to combat residents with improper electrical hook ups

October 13, 2011 – Auburn, Iowa.

- There is a house that didn’t have electricity, and so strung extension cords to another property. Nothing prohibits hooking two houses to one property, and the council wants to create an ordinance that will prohibit this. The clerk has not found another ordinance that covers this, but the city of Guttenberg did contact the city said that they are happy that they are not the only city with this problem. Guttenberg handled it by disconnecting the cord and indicating that the electrical utilities would be cut off to the supplying house if it persisted. This solved the problem.

Mayor Beidler suggests including in writing notification that this is not allowed when the utilities are initially turned on.

It was another nice season for the young Raider football program as the 7th grade improved each week against good competition and ended on a high note by avenging an earlier loss to Altal-Aurelia and putting it all together in their last game against Poky-Pomeroy Palmer. We had 23 boys on the squad this year.

The 8th graders proved to be good leaders on and off the field and had another great season finishing 5-1 and 9-2 for their middle school careers. We had 27 young men out and only a hard fought very physical game against Poky-Pomeroy Palmer that ended in a tough loss kept them from having an undefeated season.

The coaching staff of Steve Nuetzman, Larry Tellinghuisen and Greg Lucas would like to thank the kids for their effort to make it a very enjoyable football season.

- Steve Nuetzman
