Curtis Bloes Addresses the ESC School Board about Building and Facilities usage Committee Concerns

October 17, 2011 – Sac City, Iowa

In this video, Mr. Bloes asks the Board to change its policy regarding how building closures would be discussed. Bloes, who was responsible for filming this meeting, was standing and addressing the board when the video camera malfunctioned and so was unable to capture the entire scene.

The gist of Bloes’s concern was that the discussion process regarding the possible closure of buildings would begin in secret and he asked the board to vote for for a rule change to compel the committee to kick the conversation into the open meeting forum of the school board should it come up.

In answer to Bloes, Director Wilhelm seem to express the sentiments of the entire board when he suggested that much bigger issues, such as the decision to consolidate, took place in much the same manner as would happen in this committee and didn’t see any need to change it.
