- When somebody picks up back taxes, it starts the process over again.
- This is where the absentee tax payer is really messed up.

- None of my cities have got this so far.

- Free Methodists church will cost thousands more to destroy because of asbestos.

-There is an estimate for one building with asbestos removal included.
-Amount isn’t shared.
- There could be students who are looking for projects for training.
- Prison labor?

- Can you definitively tell the council what you will do? (No answer.)

- The city will be liable.

17. Who has the authority to place condemned signs?
- Enforcement officer has the authority to post signs where he deems necessary.
- The ordinance doesn’t specify who shall direct the zoning officer to post signs.
- Arrival of city administrator.
- It is the zoning officers place to make the determination of where signs will be placed.
- What stops the enforcement offer from signing any house?
- Is there an appeal process.
- I can put the sign up, but I don’t think it will expedite anything.
- Somebody needs to discuss things before the tax sale.


18. How much will it cost to tear down the old shoe store and how much will be covered by a grant.
- The grant is competitive, so there is no guarantee that we will get it.
- It will cost between $25,000 and $45,000 to do the complete process.
- The money Shirley is talking about will cover $5,000 to $8,000.
- This type of facility will not qualify for federal funding.
- There are strings attached.

VIDEO - Sac City Planning and Zoning approves fee schedules, debates variance minutia

SAC CITY, IOWA - MAY 3, 2010

1. We have a request to build a tower, and there is no fee to build a tower.
2. If they tear a portion of a sidewalk out and replace it, then it's called maintenance. If it's totally replaced then it requires a permit.
3. When does it take a zoning amendment and when does it take a variance?
- I thought a zoning amendment is if you want to put a dentist office in a residential area.
- Variance described.
- I don’t know if we’ve ever denied a variance.
- Spot zoning exceptions for small lots discussed.
- Board of adjustment should hold themselves more accountable.
- We need to make sure they get training materials.
