What happened to the commit ref the Guru, why was this not published, it did not say anything bad against either you are Nick. Maybe attend the next meeting and ask questions. I think now you are just pointing a finger at Gary Hansen, maybe the city council, should ask for reports, from the differant members who are on committees and get more info

February 23, 2010 - Hatemail
In this one I'm accused of bashing the city and it's employees because I posted a video of Sac City Councilperson Nich Frohardt's conversation with the rest of the council about some bills that took a long time to get paid.
Here's that mail:
Sounds like a bunch of unfounded accusation to me, I know for a fact the city has been billed for services that were done 2 years prior... If there were any real issues it would show up in the annual audit...If you don't like the city policies on paying bills don't sell to them pretty simple!!!! The school and the county pay once a month also and I don't see you on their butts... Its all about you Curtis bashing the City and personel once again.

The only thing about this comment that elevates it all the way to 4 is that, in the comments section I defended actual Sac City employees against the off topic conspiracy theory of some anonymous commenter.

Sad day when the reporter that reports on a story, ie takes video of a meeting gets bashed and accused of making stuff up! Sad day for Sac City. Maybe it's the water!

When I left the first comment yesterday it was to get you going, and what happened? Why in just a hot minute you responded with a breakdown of why you were right and anonymous was full of crap. Here's my question Curtis, have you been to any of the landfill meetings or solid waste commission or whatever they are calling it? If not, is it possible that the person who wrote in the anonymous comment is someone who actually attends all of the meetings and has more insight than Nick Frohardt? Could it be that anonymous is an employee of the landfill and has what I would consider a great insight into what's actually going on? Nick has only been on the council a couple of months and it takes a lot longer than that to get your head wrapped around what is going on with every committee that you are on. I'm not saying Nick is right or wrong, no council person bashing here.....their jobs are tough enough the way it is. Instead of railing against them, I think it wise to rally behind them and let them know that we appreciate what it is they are doing and ask them if there is any way that we may help them out. Yes, they can and WILL make stupid decisions that we as citizens don't like. Or how about this, decisions that look good, smell good, and feel good today, but five to ten years down the road we have hindsight and the ability to see that maybe that decision wasn't as good as fist thought. You know, hindsight being what it is and all (20/20). So what I'm saying is, hey, I enjoy reading your posts, I don't always agree with what you say or how you say it, and that's okay.
I did not, and will not, try and be two different people. Also, if you look at how I've written in in the past, I'd like to think that Sorenson and Birkhofer didn't let me out with such poor use of the English language. I know I forget punctuation now and again, but without a nanny on here telling me when I screw up, sometimes it's hard remembering when to put all of those darn commas. Hell, I still remember days gone by where you were showing me how to run a program on Baker's Apple IIC in math class. Ahhhh, brings back memories doesn't it? I didn't say they were good or bad memories, just memories. Anyway, it's crappy that you moved my dialogue to the hatemail section. I rib you about not having all the info and one time my post is linked to the garbage blog and then I look back and it's gone and I have to look for a while before I can find it again. What a way to treat a classmate.

ReplyDelete1. I did not attend the landfill meeting in question. I have a completely accurate source that I trust completely that has attended every single landfill meeting for years before I started TSN whom reports to me directly.
2. I think its perfectly possible that the person who wrote the anonymous comment attends the landfill meetings and doesn't understand how far the process has gone because that person only attends the meetings once per month.
3. If anon#1 is on that board, then they know that what Nick said is correct and are engaging in propaganda.
4. If anon#1 is an employee of the landfill, then they do not yet understand how far the talk has advanced since the last landfill meet nearly 1 month ago.
5. The story doesn't mention landfill employees, that must be a personal issue of yours that you are projecting onto my work.
6. The story is critical of Gary Hansen for letting us down by not reporting on the landfill. That's not hindsight, I've been reporting on his inadequacies as a city council member for several years.
7. A commenter named Anonymous asked why I didn't publish a comment by The Guru, but since the comment by The Guru wasn't yet published, the person calling themselves "The Guru" is the only person that knew the comment wasn’t published yet. The other possibility is that two people are engaged and checking in with each other. Either way it’s a team effort. Trolls are welcome talk to themselves all day long. Whether they a single person pretending, or two people teaming up.
8. Trolling and off topic comments get moved to the troll page, there is no emotion attached to that decision. The only reason it ever was on the story page in the first place is because I hate to hold up comments. I didn't have my computer on me and I was otherwise engaged when the comments came in. I moved the trolling to the troll page when I got home. My web chick would have made the same move had I been on vacation and away from the computer for an extended period of time and needed to decide how to publish your comments.
9. If you think I didn't already talk to a supervisor about a county issue, you're opinion of me is much lower than you claim.
I have never written on your site before, but have certainly seen enough. Since you openly post that you have your "nose" into the politics of Sac City, may I suggest that you stick to the facts, and offer the residents of Sac City just the facts and let them make up their own minds, rather than your opinions? I would hate to be almost 40 years old, and still have the need to "grow up". Maybe once you do, you will then have a better understanding of what the well respected and elected officials of Sac City are doing to help this town. Do the town a favor, and stick to the facts, and not your own interpretation of them.

ReplyDeleteAre you suggesting that I am looping audio to make it appear that the Mayor cannot keep track of where she is from item to item on the City Council Agenda? Are you suggesting that I am adding dialog to make it appear that she is not paying attention to the discussion?
Are you suggesting that I am removing audio of Sac School Board meetings to make it appear that the President does not know parliamentary procedure?
Are you suggesting that I am digitally scrubbing Jim Johnston and Gary Hansen’s images out of the videos to make it appear that they are not attending to their obligations?
The reality of Sac City politics is that I can show the public the incompetency of our elected officials by posting a video of an open meeting and not saying a word.
You are certainly welcome to write in and defend their actions as often as you like.

WOW Curtis. Seems like there are more towns in Sac County that are experiencing the same type of problems as Sac City, i.e. a few incompentant or ignorant city council members. You are right, video is hard to argue with. We've started enacting our right under the Iowa Code to videotape council meetings as well to make the council members accountable for their votes and political stances on certain subjects. Glad to see you are doing that as well. Too many citizens nowadays aren't willing to rock the boat even if officals are doing something not in the best interest of the town or citizens. I've always believed that "I'd rather be disliked for who I am than be liked for what I am not". Integrity is something many people are lacking. Glad you have some.

I believe it is. The Bible teaches us all how to live our lives. A life that is pleasing to God.
I think most of these post are being written by the same psycho WLVA mom. You know who you are [INITIALS REMOVED] This same person logs on to her kids facebook account and comments about other students. She needs to get a life. She has tried everything to bring these kids down. Maybe some of you need to talk to the teachers and coaches that are around these kids the most. I am sure you will hear an entire differant story.

I believe that everything Shirley does, she does for the best interest of the students at East Sac. All that she wants is the best education for the students so that they have a chance of making something of them selves. and bullying can be an issue. I have heard things about the 8th graders who will soon be freshman and i think that they need to grow up and start respecting each other and quit the bulling. I know that everything that Shirley is doing is in the best interest for the students, and Curtis, how would you like it if someone published lies and shit about you on the internet for everyone to read? maybe you should think about it.

ReplyDeleteThere are two major programs being used to address bullying in Iowa at this time. ESC administration has chosen to work the one that they feel is the most effective of the two. That data is freely available to the public, including your beloved leader AND is put out at public school board meetings about twice per year proving that the school’s methods for addressing bullying is working as well as anyone elses. Shirley Phillips apparently decided that a more effective way of getting rid of bullying would be to attack the middle school principal. If you believe that Shirley Phillip’s way of addressing bullying is the correct one and that I am an idiot for believing in that other stupid “Gain the trust of the victims so that they are more comfortable reporting harassment” method then there is nothing for the two of us to talk about.
As for the question of obsession, I’m sorry if it appears that I am obsessed. I assure you, from Highway 20 to the Planning and Zoning board, Ms. Phillips keeps her own schedule on the frequency with which she says or does imbecilic things. How and when she chooses to embarrasses herself is totally out of my control. I merely report and opine.

Hell one day in L.V. while sitting at Ryan's peope were talking about the construction uptown and they were talking about how she gets her nose in down there too. It was so funny, that really struck up a conversation. Because of her Sac City will become a ghost town,,,,,,,,
