  1. South Storm Lake Dept.?December 15, 2010 at 8:28 PM

There must be a hidden "prerequisite" that you must be from the Storm Lake PD, or have an association with it to be hired on with Sac County Sheriff now? 3 of the last 5 positions filled have come from there; what a shocker!!!!

  2. They have a good Police Department. Unlike the City Council, the Sheriff's Dept highers qualified, skilled officers for the open positions. I think another reason for this is because instead of bring in someone from the other side of the state or across state lines for the job, why not hire someone who knows the lay of the land and who have worked with Sac County in the past. Small learning curve and they can hit the ground running.
    Makes total sense to me!

    Just my thoughts...

  3. First off, nice spelling- Second, how does working in the almighty "Storm Lake" give them a lay out of Sac County? The only thing that I can think of to help them "hit the ground running" [CONTENT REMOVED] the Storm Lake PD [CONTENT REMOVED], so they will be more familiar with the paperwork and proceedings of the dept.

  4. I think the fact that 3 of the last 5 hires have come from Storm Lake says more about working in Storm Lake than it does anything with Sac County. Face it, the demographics of Storm Lake are changing, and I wouldn't be surprised if any time a LE job is posted in NW Iowa, there's a handful of Storm Lake officers that apply - I know there's a couple on Carrol PD and Carroll County SD.

  5. Just to clarify - I believe the accurate statistic would be 4 of the last 7 hired have been from Storm Lake P.D. if you go back to 2002 when McClure was hired.

[What is your source? The sheriff is elected not hired - ED ;)]

  6. McClure was hired as a Deputy Sheriff before he was elected Sheriff.

  7. They have lived in Early for three years. So yes the new deputy does know sac county fairly well. Also theres no better police department to come from, Storm Lake is a great start.
