Leo Overmohle, age 80, of Storm Lake died on September 10, 2010 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Leo G. Overmohle was born in Elgin, Nebraska on January 31, 1930 to Anton and Lauretta (Mooney) Overmohle.

During the Korean War, Leo proudly served his country in the United States Army.

On January 15, 1953, Leo was united in marriage to Rosemary Koch at St. Mary’s Church in Storm Lake. Their union was blessed with nine children: Cindy, Susan, Mike, Laurie, Beth, Barb, Nancy, Bob and Mary.

Leo was baptized and confirmed in Elgin, Nebraska. He was currently an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake.

The family made their home in Storm Lake, where Leo worked for Hy-Grade for 33 years. He later worked for Thresia’s Greenhouse, near Early, Iowa, for his cousin Thresia Tunink, as well as Bomgaars and Joyce’s Greenery in Storm Lake.

Over the years, Leo enjoyed woodworking, gardening and camping. More than anything, he loved and adored his family. He will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

Left to cherish Leo’s memory are his children: Cindy (Jerry) Hugo of West Point, Nebraska; Susan (Jim) Garrett of Hampton, Iowa; Mike (Diane) Overmohle of Storm Lake; Laurie Wilson of Storm Lake; Beth (Ron) Rubendall of Fonda, Iowa; Barb (David) Liske of Elkhart, Iowa; Nancy Pommrehn of Deltona, Florida; Bob (Beth) of Storm Lake; and Mary (Marty) Barngrover of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren: Nicholas (Katie) Hugo of Omaha, Nebraska; Alexis (Chris) Funk of Bennington, Nebraska; Todd Hugo of West Point, Nebraska; Travis Hugo of Lincoln, Nebraska; Jeremy (Kim) Garrett of Decorah, Iowa; Jerome (Jessie) Garrett of Brooklyn, Iowa; Amanda (Nate) Harrington of Omaha, Nebraska; Jeff (Miranda) Garrett of Washington, Illinois; Jessica (Brett) Laabs of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Joshua (Abbey) Overmohle of Wyoming, Minnesota; Jason (Chrissy) Overmohle of Hospers, Iowa; Justin Overmohle of Storm Lake; Ted (Molly) Wilson of Coralville, Iowa; Ben Wilson of Ankeny, Iowa; Rebecca Wilson of Des Moines, Iowa; OS2 Caleb Wilson, USN of Storm Lake; Pfc Katie Wilson, Army National Guard of Fredric, Michigan; Chris (Amanda) Rubendall of Cherokee, Iowa; Tiffany (Eric) Flammang of Danbury, Iowa; Nathan Rubendall of Fonda, Iowa; Noah (Courtney) Rubendall of Fonda, Iowa; Brian (Heather) Liske of Bondurant, Iowa; Kyle Liske of Evanston, Illinois; Adam Liske of Collegeville, Minnesota; Jordan Liske of Elkhart, Iowa; Andrew Pommrehn of Deltona, Florida; Pfc Matthew Pommrehn, USMC, of Deltona, Florida; Melissa Pommrehn; of Deltona, Florida; Tyler, Shelby and Blake Overmohle of Storm Lake; Heather Porath, Brittni Porath, Meghan Porath, and Tanner Barngrover, all of Sioux City, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Anna Hugo, Victor and Julia Funk, Ashlynn and Macen Garrett, Kayla and Eli Garrett, Alexa, Elektra and Ivangelina Harrington, Brandon and Lucy Laabs, Emersyn Overmohle, Dylan and Evan Overmohle, Eddie, Leo and Cormac Wilson, Leighton Rubendall, Nathan Jr. and Mary Ann Rubendall, Aiden and Abby Rubendall, Hannah and Bailey Liske, and Colton Porath; one brother, Luvern (Eileen) Overmohle of Wapello, Iowa; five sisters: Rita (Fred) Jansen of Storm Lake; Rosie (Francis) Koch of Storm Lake; Mary (Dave) Breon of Sperry, Iowa; Betty (Don) Schmitt of Storm Lake; and Lois Kestel of Schaller, Iowa; special friend, Gayle Sundberg of Storm Lake; and many other extended family members and friends.

Preceding Leo in death were his parents; wife of 50 years, Rosemary; brother, Don “Butch” Overmohle; son-in-law, Byron Pommrehn; and brother-in-law, Norman Kestel.
