Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, 10:30 a.m., November 13, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake, Iowa.
Vigil Service: Friday, 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow November 12, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake.
James E. Scott, age 81, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Jim was born on October 27, 1929, in Lake View, Iowa, the son of Everett Eric and Helen Louise (Holmes) Scott. He was baptized and confirmed and an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake. He graduated from Lake View High School in 1948, and attended Iowa State College. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War.

On October 17, 1953, Jim was married to Margaret Manuel at St Joseph’s in Wall Lake. They farmed and made their home in Lake View on Blackhawk Lake. They have 7 children; 5 daughters and 2 sons. Jim retired from farming in 1992. His hobbies included sailing, iceboating, and flying. He loved traveling with Margaret, especially to the Grand Teton Mountain Range. Winter was a favorite season and he looked forward to donning gear and being on his iceboats or motorsled. Family was very special to him.

His family includes his wife, Margaret, of 57 years, children Eric (Susan) Scott of Madison, WI, Anne (Steve) Hayes of Winona, MN, Jean (Mark) Hanigan of Blacksburg, VA, Jane (Kurt) Lyon of De Pere, WI, John (Mollie) Scott of Lake View, Mary (John) Yeomans of Iowa City, IA; son in law Pat (Michele) Rippentrop of Cedar Falls, IA; grandchildren: Jennifer (Jason Brandes) and Eileen Scott; Kelli, Scott, Aaron, Sarah Hayes; Patrick, David Hanigan; Ellen Lyon; Marie, Samuel, Emily, Abby Scott; Katy, Brad, Mike, Ben Yeomans, Kevin Rippentrop; step-grandchildren Melissa Timm, Michael Schleusner; sister Jacquie (Duane) Gerdes of El Paso, TX. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Kaye Rippentrop, his parents, Everett and Helen Scott, and parents in law, Samuel T. and Estella W. Manuel.
