Francis Dick, age 79, of Schaller, Iowa died November 2, 2010 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Francis Antone Dick, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Dirkx) Dick, was born in Carroll, Iowa, on April 18, 1931. He attended school for several years at Eden Country School before graduating from Schaller Community High School.

On May 21, 1955, Francis was united in marriage to Kathryn Wattier. This union was blessed with seven children: Anne, Daniel, Michael, Constance, Denise, David and Mary.

Francis proudly served his country for nine years, as part of the United States Army Reserves. He spent many years farming and also worked at Jacques Seed Corn Plant. Francis was an active member of his church, St. Joseph Catholic. He was an active member of the Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus and lectured at weekend masses. Francis was always eager to paint machinery and mow the lawns. He also enjoyed working on puzzles, playing cards and going dancing.

Those left to cherish Francis’ memory include his wife of 55 years, Kathryn Dick of Schaller, Iowa; his children: Anne Ellis (special friend Bob Thompson) of Denver, Colorado; Daniel (Jeanne) Dick of Garner, Iowa; Michael (Faith) Dick of Humboldt, Iowa; Constance Eddie (special friend Kevin Heissel) of Lemars, Iowa; Denise (Paul) McMahon of Waterloo, Iowa; David Dick (fiancĂ© Diane Jacobson) of Schaller, Iowa; and Mary Gamroth (special friend Wesley Morris) of Yucaipa, California; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Linus Dick; sister, Luella Smith; and brother-in-law, Donald Brown.
