SAC CITY, IOWA – JAUNUARY 18, 2011
Not included in the letter above document is a request by the Region XII Council of Governments, (RXII COG) asking for $3,000.00 in matching funds for the state housing trust fund. The state will continue to fund that program, so they are asking for those matching funds from Sac County.
The following a summary of the transit services the RXII COG provides.
1. Sac County ridership is up substantially.
2. They keep 5 light duty busses in Sac County.
- Two are “virtually” brand new.
3. They have a couple of mini vans
4. There are three full time drivers and one part time driver in the area.
- Transportation is generally used by senior citizens and special needs.
- They will provide transportation to anyone who can pay for services provided there is room on the bus/in the van(s)
5. Hired Christine Beechler (Phonetic spelling) full time who helps with medical trips.
- Four people go to Storm lake for dialysis and three go to Carroll for dialysis.
6. Busses cost around $160,000.00.
- Some of the Busses have built in child restraint seating for head start children.
- They try to put 250K miles on the busses before they replace them.
7. Funding requests are included in the budget for approval and the supervisors made no decision regarding this request on January 18, 2011.
