Sac County Supervisors share knowledge about possible project to utilize excess energy in NW Iowa for use in Illinois

SAC CITY, IOWA – DECEMBER 14, 2010

Rock Island Clean Line Proposal

Windspeed has proposed a two billion dollar project to collect wind farm energy from northwest Iowa and convert it from AC to DC. It will travel across Iowa as DC electricity to Central Illinois through Davenport where it will be converted back into AC and dispersed back into the grid.

If they get regulatory approval, the project could be complete within 5 years.
