Middle School Raider Girls Top SWG

The Raider girls traveled to Southeast Webster-Grand on December 17, 2010 and were able to take both games from the Eagles. The 7th graders were in for a tussle as the Eagles jumped out to 4 point lead in the first quarter. The Raiders responded with a good 2nd frame, however, and were able to establish a bit of a lead at halftime and they were able to push that lead to their 6th win on the year by a 34-20 final margin. The 8th grade took it to their hosts from the start and cruised to their 6th straight win by a 40-14 score.

In the opener, Ashton Blum ended up as the high point getter with her 10 points. Lexie Berry added 9, followed by 6 from Bailey Jacobsen, 5 from Sydney Ernst, and 2 each from Kendal Herrig and Lexi Willson. Willson also had 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Berry had 6 rebounds and 12 steals, and Ernst had 3 rebounds and 5 steals for East Sac.

In the nightcap, Jordan Fischer scored 14 points to take scoring honors for the Raiders. Ariana Batz knocked in 11 for East as Sydney Schwanz got 5, Jaylynn Peters and Ashlnn Jarvis each dropped in 4 and Brooke Odendahl collected the other 2. Schwanz was leading rebounder with her 13 boards. Fischer grabbed another 6 and Odendahl and Peters snared 5 each for the Raiders. Peters took 6 steals to lead East on defense. Fischer and Batz each thefted 5 to make it tough on the Eagles’ offense.

As the teams head into the Christmas break, they both find themselves with unblemished records at 6-0. First action when they return from the break will be tough games against South Central Calhoun on the road on January 4.
