SAC CITY, IOWA – DECEMBER 13, 2010
East Sac MS
December Board Report
1. Student Council
a. Made purchases for 4 Angel tree children with proceeds from selling wrist bands.
b. Is conducting a food drive this week—this is the second food drive of the year with the Raiders In Action group performing the first one.
2. Girl’s Choir
a. Mrs. Nellis has a 7th/8th grade girl’s choir that is performing around the communities. They have been requested to sing, or have already sung, at places like the nursing homes, Kiwanis, etc. Actually, there have been many requests that have had to be turned down due to the demand of this group performing.
3. Dec. 13 is the Band Concert and December 20 is the MS Vocal Music concert.
4. The 7th and 8th grade choir went to a drama performance in Ames. Thanks to the Music Boosters for some financial support to give students this opportunity. The students were able to watch a performance and pick up tips and hints for their upcoming musical performance this Winter/Spring “Hot Rod: Cruising Back to the 50’s”
5. Friday Night School has been averaging nearly 30 students.
6. There have been 26 courses recovered to date by students in the MS.
7. Thanks to the Ed. Foundation for granting wish lists in the amount of nearly $1900 to MS teachers.
Video Notes:
1. Rodman adds that he has heard a lot of good things about bullying education, and thanks Mr. Olhausen for his efforts.
2. Sands refers to a specific incident of bullying that has been reported to “everybody in the system” and wants to know how that can be addressed.
- First step is to see if the students can figure out a way to get along.
- The next step, and in this particular case it would be for the student to change lockers so as not to be next to the alleged bully, would be preventative.
- If this fails, they will pursue disciplinary measures.
