Donald Robert Prichard, age 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown.


Donald was born on May 31, 1925 at Rockwell City, Calhoun County, Iowa, the third of ten children born to Alvin and Mary Ida (McCaulley) Pritchard. On September 21, 1942 he was united in marriage to Mary R. Bye in Memphis, Missouri.


Donald was drafted into the United States Army toward the end of World War II (1944). After training in Missouri and Texas he was shipped out to Europe, where he served in the 99th Infantry in the Battle of the Bulge.


Survivors include his children: Sharon Kay (Robert) Stapleford, Jr. of Des Moines, Robert Donald “Bob” (Lynda) Prichard of Buford, GA, Rosemary (Norbert) Ricker of St. Mary’s, OH, Jon Jay Prichard of South City, NE, Bradley (Karen) Prichard of Martensdale, IA, Todd Allen Prichard of Stuart, IA; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marilyn (Mert) Jackson of Laurens and Sandra Schossow of Webster City; many nieces and nephews and extended family.


Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; infant daughter Joleen Ann; brothers and sisters: Alvin Mathew Prichard, Jr., Dorothy Engelhart, John Prichard, Lola Jean Prichard as a child, Jimmy and Ralph Prichard in infancy, and Larry Prichard.
