The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Dean Stock acted as temporary chairman.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock that Jack Bensley serve as Chairman of the Sac County Board of Supervisors for 2011. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the minutes of the last meeting. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to amend the agenda to consider designating official county newspapers for 2011. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the agenda as amended. Ayes all, motion carried.
Chairman Bensley asked those in attendance to stand and say the Pledge of Allegance.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to adopt Resolution 11-0104 allowing the Board to do construction evaluation regarding animal confinement feeding operation structures pursuant to Iowa Code 459.304(3). Ayes: Hecht, Stock and Bensley; nays none, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to approve the Sheriff’s quarterly report for the quarter ending December 31, 2010. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to designate the Sac Sun and The Chronicle as the official newspapers for Sac County for 2011. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to close the courthouse in observation of the following holidays in 2011: Jan.17 – Martin Luther King’s Day, Feb. 21 – President’s Day, April 22 – Close at Noon on the Friday before Easter, May 30 – Memorial Day, July 4 – Independence Day, Sept 5 – Labor Day, Nov 11 – Veteran’s Day, Nov 24 & 25 – Thanksgiving, Dec 23 – Close at noon for Christmas Eve, Dec 26 – Christmas, Dec 30 – Close at noon for New Year’s eve and January 2, 2012 – New Year’s Day. Ayes all, motion carried.
Chairman Bensley made the following committee appointments: Supervisor Hecht will serve on DHS, Ambulance, REAP, ISTEA, New Opportunities, 2nd Judicial District and Public Health. Supervisor Stock will serve on ICAP, DD 181 interim committee, Landfill Board, County Conservation, Highway 20, alternate to 2nd Judicial District and SETD. Supervisor Bensley will serve on Region XII Council of Governments, Youth Emergency Services, Decat, ISTEA, R.C.&D, Community Empowerment, Workforce Development, Hazmat, EMA and E911.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the claims as listed on the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.
Sheriff Ken McClure and the Board discussed the courthouse security committee and agreed that the current policy of a weapons free zone in the courthouse should remain in place.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to approve and sign the contract and bond with Dixon Construction for Project BROS – CO81(59) –5F-81, which is a bridge replacement on County Road M 35 between Sections 31 & 32, Cook Twp. ayes all, motion carried.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
