Mel Forward, age 55, of Lake View, IA, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, IA.
Melvin Joseph Forward was born on May 28, 1956, to parents Daniel and Mamie (Smith) Forward in Red Oak, IA. He grew up in that area graduating from Nishna Valley High School with the class of 1974. He went on to further his education with a degree from Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, IA. He met his life partner in Carlotta Buse and they spent many happy years together.
Mel worked for 20 years at General Electric in Carroll, IA, and then continued working the last 11 years at Midwest Industries in Ida Grove, IA. He had a love of horses and was a member of the Lake Riders Saddle Club in Lake View. He also enjoyed farming with his best friend Wayne Luckow. He will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Carlotta; mother Mamie; brothers: Darvin Forward of Red Oak, IA, Bryan (Deb) Forward of Red Oak, IA, Dave (Lueann) Forward of Glidden, IA; sisters: Cathy Forward of Red Oak, IA, Penny (Greg) Carlson of Council Bluffs, IA, and many extended family members and friends.
Preceded in death by his father Daniel.
