The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jack Bensley, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all, motion carried.
Arlin Sigmon, Sac Township Trustee, was present to discuss a sign which had been erected at the entrance to the Luckow Cemetery in Section 31, Sac Township. The sign had been built by a private individual and contacted anyone about permission to put the sign in the right of way of the county road which serves as the entrance to the cemetery. The Board will discuss the matter with the county engineer.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the claims as listed on the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to direct the Chairman to sign the revised Iowa Risk Management Agreement for the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP). Ayes all, motion carried. The revised agreement will allow ICAP to continue to return a portion of the Pool surplus.
Sheriff Ken McClure explained two proposals from Buena Vista Glass to install a customer service counter at the entrance to the sheriff’s office as a way to control the traffic through the office. B.V. Glass quoted $1401.11 for a 5/16” solid plate glass window with a pass through trough and $1270.28 for a transaction counter with a sliding glass panel.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to approve the purchase of the transaction counter with the sliding glass panel. Ayes all, motion carried.
The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects. The Board and the Engineer discussed the cemetery sign situation in Section 31, Sac Twp. The Engineer will look into the situation.
A budget amendment for secondary roads was discussed. It was decided not to amend the budget for secondary roads at this time.
Two bids for hauling 5000 tons of gravel to eight townships were submitted and opened at the board meeting. Just Trucking and JW Construction each submitted a proposal but neither included a total price. The Engineer will review the bids and inform the Board.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
