Funeral Service was at 10:30 a.m January 05, 2011 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda, Iowa
Vigil Service immediately followed the rosary at 7:00 p.m. January 04, 2011 at Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda, Iowa
Interment was on January 05, 2011 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fonda, Iowa

Marjorie Mullen, age 94, of Fonda, Iowa died January 1, 2011 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell.
Marjorie Ardale Patterson was born October 29, 1916 in Jolley, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Dorothea (Haeffner) Patterson. Growing up, Marjorie attended school in Jolley where she graduated from Jolley High School. Following high school graduation, Marjorie attended Capital Beauty School in Omaha, Nebraska. She worked as a cosmetologist for several years after graduation.

On February 8, 1945, Marjorie was united in marriage to Peter James Mullen at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with ten children.

Marjorie was a member of the Holy Family Society and a fifty year member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She loved reading and enjoyed music, birds, nature, and horse racing. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and treasured spending time with her family. Marjorie and Peter were the heart and soul of the family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Teresa (Tom) Meyer of Iowa City, Iowa; Elaine Mullen of West Des Moines, Iowa; Peter (Vicki) Mullen of Sioux City, Iowa; James (Candy) Mullen of Sac City, Iowa; Mary Jo (Fran) Marron of Storm Lake, Iowa; Valerie Walsh of Storm Lake, Iowa; Ronald (Carol) Mullen of Wellman, Iowa; Mark (Lori) Mullen of Pella, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter; daughter, Jeanne Mullen; son, John Mullen; brother, Donald Patterson; sister, LouJean Hatteberg; son-in-law, Larry Walsh; and grandson, Jason Walsh.
