Passed Away - Grace Cole





Grace Cole, age 62, of Schaller, Iowa, died Thursday, September 23, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and friends at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa, following a courageous three-year battle with lung cancer.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Schaller, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Terry Pollard will officiate, with burial to follow in the Schaller Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be held at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.

Born January 24, 1948, in Estherville, Iowa, Grace Faye Cole was the daughter of Henry and Eithel (Bunday) Hansen. She grew up and received her education in Estherville, graduating from Estherville High School in 1966.

On May 1, 1984, she married Harold "Herbie" Cole in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Together the couple owned and operated the Busy Bee Bakery in Moville. After several years they opened The Rolling Pin, a bakery and later, restaurant, in Ida Grove.

Grace loved spending time with family and friends, and especially cherished being with her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, boating, and the out-of-doors.

Grace is survived by three children, Michelle (Curt) Gonnerman of Estherville, Eric (Tanya) Schnobrich of Redwood Falls, MN, and Cindy (Sean) Ehrp of Schaller; and six grandchildren, Kelcey Gonnerman of Estherville, Matthew and Ashley Schnobrich of East Prairie, MO, Jaden and Jordan Schnobrich of Redwood Falls, MN, and Wyatt Ehrp of Schaller. Other survivors include a brother, Harvey (Harriet) Hansen of Estherville; four sisters, Mary Thomas of Estherville, Sandra (Jim) Ramsey of Grundy Center, Betty (Kenny) Pedersen of Gowrie, and Thelma Soucek of Alpha, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herb in 1998; her parents; a brother, Eugene Hansen; a son-in-law, Mark Thorborg; a niece, Becky Hansen; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Thomas and Duane Soucek.
