Passed Away - Marjorie Hosteng

Marjorie_Hosteng_edited-1Marjorie Hosteng, age 82, of Sac City, Iowa, died Monday, October 17, 2011, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2011, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Don Pobanz will officiate, with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sac City. Visitation with the family present will be held Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Born February 24, 1929, in Sac County, Iowa, Marjorie Jean Hosteng was the daughter of Vern and Pearl (Langbein) Robson. She grew up in Early, then moved with her family to Sac City, where she graduated from Sac City High School.

Marjorie worked at the auditor's office of the Sac County Courthouse for several years. On June 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Don Hosteng at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Odebolt, Iowa. The couple made their home in Sac City and was blessed with five sons, Mark, Michael, Craig, Kirk, and Scott. Marjorie served as bookkeeper for the family businesses, Hosteng Concrete and Gravel and Hosteng Farms, for many years.

A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City, Marjorie was an avid golfer and also enjoyed playing bridge. She was an accomplished seamstress and will be remembered for her wonderful cooking skills.

Survivors include her husband, Don; five sons, Mark (Jan) Hosteng of Lake View, Michael Hosteng of Denver, CO, Craig (Clare) Hosteng of Mt. Carmel, IN, Kirk (Cheri) Hosteng of Galesburg, IL, and Scott Hosteng and special friend Bryn of Sac City; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward (Cindy) Robson of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Joyce Witte of Sac City; and several nieces and nephews.
