Murley takes 3rd in Middle School Cross Country meet at Manson

October 15, 2011 - Manson, Iowa

We went to Manson Saturday for our conference meet and performed very well.

Middle School girls

Ann Newman 22nd 15:12
Adrian Newman 23rd 15:14
Tyra Lake 35th 17:14
Brianna Mathews 37th 17:22

We had four girls run for us and they all posted personal records to end their year. Ann and Adrian started the year as our two top runners and they ran solid for us all year. Tyra and Brianna both have worked hard all year and ended with very good times.

Middle School Boys
Andrew Murley 3rd 12:27
Quentin Ackerman 20th 15:48

Quentin ran very well for us this year. Today he ran very hard and was rewarded with a personal record. Andrew has been the star of our middle school squad all year. He ran to win today and was in the race until the very end. He broke his own school record with this effort.

High School girls
Lydia Anderson 13th 17:44
Lauren Goodenow 19th 18:36
Liz Halbur 26th 19:10
Morgan Wolleson 37th 20:08

I am very happy with our girls team today. Three of these girls have only ran three meets this year and yet we ran at a high level. Lydia went out very hard and continued to move up through the race. This was her best race of the year. Lauren ran a very solid race as usually and also posted her best time of the season. Liz is new to cross country so she is still learning how to run the race. She continues to impress me with her efforts and has the potential to be very good at this sport. Morgan struggled a little mid race but had the strength to push threw it and she also set a personal record for herself.

High School boys
Cory Carlyle 7th 18:19
James Pobanz 31st 19:43
Kelly Nutt 33rd 19:45
Prezley Gregg 51st 21:42
Colin Haberl 52nd 22:01
Hunter Peiken 55th 23:14
Alex Peterson 56th 33:33

Cory ran very hard today. He was in the top three for most of the race before slipping a little at the finish. Kelly also ran a solid race. He was able to move up late in the race for a good finish. James had a very good start but struggled late in the race. The rest of our team wasnt ready to run today. We started slow and seemed to be content with where we were at.

Our varsity will travel to Orange City Thursday for the state qualifying meet.
