Minutes of the October 18, 2011 Sac County Supervisors Meeting

The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jack Bensley, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.

It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to amend the agenda to discuss some budget items with the County Sheriff. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the agenda as amended. Ayes all, motion carried.

During the citizen input section of the meeting, Supervisor Stock was asked for clarification on the Howard Center expenditures compared to the revenues received from the county landfill. According to Mr. Stock, the 28E agreement between the Sac County Landfill and the Howard Center states that cost minus sales determines the landfill contribution to the Howard Center.

Sheriff Ken McClure requested permission to discuss the possibility of hiring some part-time help from the Webster County Sheriff’s office to help with security during the Tracy Richter murder trial which has been moved to Webster County. Sheriff McClure stated that the judge had requested additional deputies for security and that he and Deputy Hatterman could not be available for security until after they had given testimony.

The Sheriff and the Board of Supervisors also discussed using the Sheriff’s credit card to secure airline tickets and rental cars for witness subpoenaed from out of state for this particular case.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to authorize the Sac County Sheriff to request additional help for security from the Webster County Sheriff’s office and to direct the County Auditor to get clarification from the County’s auditing firm of Hunzelman, Putzier and Company on the use of the Sheriff’s credit card for the purchase of airline tickets and rental cars. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the claims as listed on the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to approve three repairs to DD 81 in section 31, Williams Township, Calhoun County, in the amount of $8,200.00. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to some tree removal and tile investigation in DD68, located in Section 13, Eden Township, Sac County, in the amount of $600.00. Ayes all, motion carried.

The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews, the status of current maintenance and construction projects and construction on Highway 20 as it pertains to secondary roads.

Beth Bahnson, interim director for the Elderbridge Agency on Ageing submitted the annual report for that agency for the year ending June 30, 2011 and a funding request in the amount of $7,836.36 for fiscal year 2012/13. No action was taken.

With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
