Middle School Girls Tip Off Season with two wins against Alta-Aurelia and Sioux Central


The East Sac Raider Middle School girls got their season off to a good start with a few wins on November 18, 2010.

In the opening action of the season the 7th and 8th grade teams both notched wins over Alta-Aurelia.

The 7th graders started the road trip off with a nice 36-12 win and then the 8th graders followed up with a similar 40-14 victory.
Lexie Berry topped the East girls’ scoring with 10 points.
She was helped by Sydney Ernst who added 8.
Kendal Herrig contributed 6 more, as did Ashton Blum.
4 from Lexi Willson and 2 from Bailey Jacobsen finished off the scoring.
Willson and Berry each grabbed 8 boards to head that department. Ernst got 5 more and Herrig and Jacobsen each took 3 more to help out. Willson capped off a nice game with her 5 steals as well.

The 8th grade followed up with an equally solid win of their own. Jordan Fischer led the Raiders with her 12 points.
Ariana Batz and Brooke Odendahl each contributed 8 more to the cause while Aubrey Houska and Sydney Schwanz both tossed in 4 and Jaylynn Peters and Ashlnn Jarvis each chipped in 2.
Fischer led the rebounding with her 5 caroms.
Houska grabbed 4 followed by Batz, Peters, and Schwanz each with 3. Fischer also led the steals along with Peters with their 4 takeaways.

On November 19, both teams played against Sioux Central and found themselves on the good side of two more victories.

The 7th grade Raiders opened up with a 32-10 win over the Rebels. Berry again led the way with 9 points followed by 8 apiece from Ernst and Willson. Herrig added 3, and 2 each from Jacobsen and Blum rounded out the scoring.
Berry and Ernst each pulled down 9 rebounds for the Raiders while Herrig and Willson each got 5.
Willson got 5 steals for East.

Fischer popped in 13 points for East Sac to lead the 8th graders in their win.
Batz tallied 6 points to help out along with 4 from Houska, 3 from Schwanz and 2 apiece from Jarvis and Nicole Huser as they went on to win by a fairly close 30-22 margin.
Schwanz recorded 12 rebounds in the win.
Fischer had 7 and Odendahl had 6 more.
Fischer’s 3 steals helped frustrate the scrappy Rebels and help the Raiders to their 2-0 start on the new season.
