Lucile Schnirring, age 86, of Sac City, IA, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City.

Caryl Lucile Schnirring was born on December 6, 1923, to parents Jay and Mabel (Hines) Waskom in Newell, IA. She grew up on a farm south of Newell and attended country school in Douglas Township and Nemaha. She graduated from cosmetology school in Sioux City, IA, in 1945, and worked in Sioux City for four years before getting married.

Lucile met her life partner in Glen Schnirring and they were united in marriage on March 9, 1948, at the United Methodist Church in Sac City. To this union two children were born, Jan and Charles. Lucile was a member of the First Christian Church and belonged to the Christian Women’s group. After working as a cosmetologist, she became a house wife and worked to make a loving home for her family.

Lucile was very active and enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, taking care of her home, and spending time with her family. She had a passion for genealogy and was a member of the Sac Genealogy Society. She was also a VFW Auxiliary Lifetime Member and a member of the VFW Cooties. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Jan (Steve) Carlson of Farnhamville, IA, and Charles Schnirring of Sac City; grandson Jason (Peggy) Johnson of Prairie Du Chien, WI; step-grandchildren: Tami (Ora) Johnson of Dayton, IA, and Tony Carlson of Fort Dodge, IA; great-grandchildren: Jason Jr. and Jayden Johnson; four step-great grandchildren: Jordan and Brittany Johnson and Alyssa and Jadyn Carlson; sisters: Mildred Rogers of Newell, IA, and Crystal Larimer of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law Viola (Ken) Smith of Chariton, IA; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen; parents Jay and Mabel Waskom; sister Evelyn Grau; and brothers-in-law: Harald Grau, Dean Rogers, Don Larimer, Richard Schnirring and Harold Schnirring; and sister-in-law Georgia Anderson.
