Ronald E. Gustafson, age 69, of Sac City, Iowa, formerly of Alta, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Ron was born on April 16, 1940, in Iowa City, to Everett and Doris (Ang) Gustafson. He attended elementary school in Arthur, Early and Sulphur Springs before graduating from Hayes School in Storm Lake. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army.
Ron held various jobs which included working at a grease gun factory, Dekalb, driving truck for Mauer Trucking, and later for Cherokee County Road Department from where he retired in 2002. Ron lived in Alta for over 40 years, moving to Sac City in 2005 to be closer to his sisters. He enjoyed fishing and working in his yard. He loved to tinker in the garage, building various things, and help with mechanical work.
Survivors include his two sisters: Janice Hoffard and Judy Gustafson both of Sac City; sister-in-law Karen Peterson of Newell; along with several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother Marlin; brother-in-law James Hoffard; and nephew Gene Gustafson.
