Merle Frank Pudenz, age 77, of Lake View, IA, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, IA.
Merle Pudenz was born on January 2, 1934, in Carroll, IA, to parents Norbert and Elenore (Balk) Pudenz. He spent most of his childhood in Auburn and Mt. Carmel area, and lived there until 1962. He met the love of his life in Wilma “Jean” Boes of Breda, IA, and they were married on January 25, 1955, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda, IA. This union was blessed with nine children. They made their home in Breda, IA, Lohrville, IA, and in 1981 moved to Lake View, IA.
Merle worked hard to provide for his family as a farmer. He also started a popcorn business with Jean which he was very proud of. The Pudenz’s were members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lohrville, IA, and then were members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake, IA. He was a member of the Lake View Lions Club and The Forresters. He got a kick out of telling people that his birthday was 1-2-3-4 (1/2/34) He loved farming, loved selling his popcorn, and especially loved his grandkids. He will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Jeff (Nancy) Pudenz, Breda, IA, Carmen (Dean) Reising, Des Moines, IA, Jan (Lori) Pudenz, Canton, SD, Julius “Juke” (Lisa) Pudenz, Lake View, IA, Jerry (friend Maria) Pudenz, Lewisberg, OH, Jay (friend Theresa) Pudenz, Kansas City, MO, Jody (Julie) Pudenz, Lewisberg, OH, Ann (Chris) Toft, Arcadia, IA, and Jamie (Crystal) Pudenz, Lake View, IA; 30 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers: Eugene (Dorothy) Pudenz, Carroll, IA, Lester (Barb) Pudenz, Wall Lake, IA, and Roger Pudenz, Carroll, IA; sisters: Marilyn (Don) Wenck, Carroll, IA, and Judy (Marvin) Masching, Worthington, MN; and many extended family members and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife Jean; parents Norbert and Elenore; parents-in-law Julius and Myrtle Boes; and grandson Nathan Pudenz.
