The ESC 6th grade band and the ESC 7th & 8th grade band participated in the Anthon Large Group contest on April 30, 2011. The 6th grade band performed “Activity March” by Larry Clark, and “Quintus”, also by Larry Clark. They earned a I+ rating. The band is directed by Bill Kolbe.
The 7th & 8th grade band performed “The Spirit of an Eagle” by Larry Clark, and “Whispers” by Sandy Feldstein and Larry Clark. They earned a I rating. The band is directed to Bill Kolbe.
The ESC High School band attended the IHSMA Large Group Contest in Sloan, IA on May 7, 2011. The band played “On A Hymnsong of Philip Bliss” by David Holsinger, and “Aventura” by James Swearingen. They earned a I rating. The band is directed by Brian Mahler.
Large Group Contest is a year-end evaluative festival that sums up the year’s work for all bands. High ratings are hard to come by, and for all the East Sac County bands to earn I ratings is truly an accomplishment to be proud of. Congratulations to all the band students of East Sac County.
