Roy W. Jahde, age 90, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

He was born on August 13, 1920 in Arcadia, Iowa. Roy was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Arcadia. He graduated from Arcadia High School with the class of 1938. In 1943, Roy joined the Army Air Force serving in Japan during WWII. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1945.

On October 4, 1963, Roy was united in marriage to Carol Butler.

Roy enjoyed working as a carpenter for Duane Carlson. He also worked at Noble Manufacturing as a foreman. He retired in 1985. Roy enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved being able to combine his love for birds and his carpentry skills to build large Martin birdhouses.

Survivors include his wife Carol; daughters: Robin Jahde of Carroll and Lynn (Dean) Carstens of Carroll; step-son: David (Jacqui) McCollum of Fort Dodge; one grandson; step-grandchildren: Christine McCollum of Fort Dodge, Angela (Ronald) Gibbs of Gowrie, Christina (Joseph) Brockelsby of Sioux City, and Gennifer (Dennis) Quillen of Sioux City; 24 step-great grandchildren; half-sister: Lois and many extended family members. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; sister LaVurna and Verta Mae; one half-brother and step-grandson Shawn P. Halbur.
