Wall Lake City Council considers law enforcement proposals from City of Lake View, and Sac County Sheriff

WALL LAKE, IOWA – JANUARY 10, 2011

1. Sac County Sheriff Department’s (SCSD) proposal is “a little cheaper”
2. Sheriff Ken McClure hits the high points of the Sac County Contract.
3. According to the Sheriff, Lake View has informally agreed to help out with response time if needed.


4. Sheriff points out that they will soon have the MACH system, (see Sac County Supervisors hear presentation about the software that will make police scanners obsolete to review that system.)
5. The hours that the department patrols are random.
6. The County is NOT trying to take over law enforcement for the entire county.
- The Mayor approached the SCSD, he wasn’t solicited by the SCSD.
7. The council would like to see how the city of Schaller goes, so they can see if there is a possibility that they can “Share” both the full time position, and the cost.
