Patricia Ann Riley, age 60, of Lake View, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, at her home in Lake View following a courageous battle against brain cancer. Patricia Ann Meusburger was born on May 9, 1949, in Sac City, IA, to parents Warren and Darleene (DeBourgh) Meusburger. She grew up in the Sac City and Lytton areas, and received her education in Sac City graduating with the Sac City High School class of 1967. She then went on to attend college at the University of Northern Iowa.

She was baptized into the First Presbyterian Church in Lytton on April 3, 1955, and confirmed into St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Sac City in 1968. She was most recently a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Lake View where she was very active teaching Sunday school for over 20 years, and serving as secretary of Dorcas Society.

She met her life partner in William Clarence Riley, and they were wed on April 6, 1968, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sac City. To this union three children were born: Mollie Ann, William Craig, and Rhonda Jean.

Her professional career spanned many years. She worked in the Sac City Drug Store, the Deli at Jerry’s, and also for Home Health Care of Sac County. She was a postal clerk for the USPS for Lake View, Carroll, Lytton, Nemaha, Fort Dodge, and Sac City. She retired November 29, 2009, after 29 years of service. Pat had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed singing, knitting, crafts, decorating, sewing, camping, fishing, and spinning yarn from sheep’s wool. She loved gardening and was a master gardener. Pat was also very computer savvy. She was the band queen in 1967 and a member of the Ergonomic Team of the APWU Postal. She especially looked forward to family events and attending the sheep show at the Iowa State Fair. Her fondest memory was the ability to be present for the birth of her grandchildren which she treasured so much. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 42 years, Bill; children: Mollie (John) Scott of Lake View, IA, William (Jessica) Riley of Mason City, IA, and Rhonda (Lenny) Daniel of Carroll, IA; grandchildren: Marie, Samuel, Emily, and Abby Scott of Lake View, and Benson Daniel of Carroll; mother Darleene Meusburger of Sac City; mother-in-law Arlene Riley, of Sac City; brothers: James (Nancy) Meusburger of Sac City and Brad (Beverly) Meusburger of Springboro, OH; sisters: Charlene (Russell) Johnson of Norwalk, IA, and Marlene (Alan) Grimm of Altoona, IA; brothers-in-law: Arlin (Connie) Riley of Corning, IA, and Gene (Jenny) Riley of Sac City; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Warren, and her father-in-law George Riley. “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
