Miriam Free's road to state closed on Saturday afternoon when he lost 2-1 in sudden death overtime to Colton Geer of Coon Rapids Bayard. Miriam had been beaten earlier in the day by eventual champion Dylan Lame of Mt. Ayr.
At Districts, two of the wrestlers advance to state. Going into the day, we knew that Miriam had to win twice to get to state. I really feel had Miriam been able to defeat Geer, he had an excellent shot at defeating the Runner-Up wrestler Eads of I-35. Had the flip of the coin gone the other way, Miriam probably wins his match against Geer and gets an opportunity in the wrestle-backs.
Miriam finished the season 24-12 with 14 pins.
