Lake View Prepares for A Candlelight Christmas

The community of Lake View will host their Christmas Candelight Walk on Saturday, December 10th, at 5:30 p.m. This will be the first year for the event, as last year's inaugural festivities were cancelled due to a snowstorm.

Everyone is encouraged to dress in festive attire and gather at the Lake View Historical Museum between 5-5:30 p.m., where candles can be purchased for $1 in support of community initiatives. Participants will join in the unique experience of caroling and walking by candlelight along the Black Hawk Lake trail to Main Street, which will include a luminary-lit stroll along the popular Pier to Pier walkway that connects the community's two historic Stone Piers.

Upon arriving on Main Street, visitors will be greeted by local businesses open for shopping and dining, as well as community holiday festivities that will include a Main Street fire pit, Christmas music, BINGO, hot beverages and great prize giveaways at the American Legion building. The winners of the community holiday lighting contest will also be announced at the end of the evening.

Non-walkers are encouraged to park along Lake Street to watch the beautiful candlelit procession and then join the festivities on Main Street. Everyone should also make plans to visit the Lake View American Legion Hall on Saturday, 12/10, from 2-4pm, for the Community Candyland Bake Sale, photos with Santa and horse-drawn wagon rides.

Lake View was recently recognized as Iowa's 2011 Tourism Community of the Year. For more information, visit www.lakeview-ia.com or find Lake View on Facebook and Twitter.
