Joseph Hoye, age 58, of Storm Lake, Iowa died June 29, 2011 at his home.
Joseph T. Hoye was born December 8, 1952 in Storm Lake, Iowa the son of Thomas and Mary E. (Kelly) Hoye. Growing up, Joe attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake where he graduated high school in 1971.

Following high school graduation, Joe attended Western Iowa Technical College where he studied Law Enforcement.

Joe served in the Iowa National Guard for many years starting in 1972.

On June 1, 1974 Joe was united in marriage to Connie Gard at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with three children: Paul, Keith, and Melissa.

Joe was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Storm Lake Police Officers Association and served on the Storm Lake Police Department from 1974 to 1998 where he retired with the rank of Captain.

Joe enjoyed hard work and helping his brother farm in his spare time. He also owned and operated Hoye Trucking. He made time for his family, especially taking his children fishing while they were growing up. Joe loved playing cards and socializing with his friends. He treasured his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Connie Hoye of Storm Lake, Iowa; children: Paul (Jill) Hoye of Fairmont, Minnesota; Keith (Nicole) Hoye of Osceola, Iowa; Melissa (Luke) Letzring of Oskaloosa, Iowa; grandchildren: Taylor, Kaleb, Josiah and Adelyn Hoye; Cooper and Samantha Hoye; mother, Mary E. Hoye; brothers: Jim (Mic) Hoye of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Pat (Renee) Hoye of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; sisters: Elaine Hoye of Yankton, South Dakota; Rose (Sid) Davis of Havelock, Iowa; extended family and many friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Hoye and grandparents.
